Who files the accounts

The 1729 Maths School isn't its own legal entity. It's an internal project of The Mill Hill School Foundation — the independent-school charity that also runs Mill Hill School, Belmont and Grimsdell — so there's no company or charity number, and no accounts, specific to the maths school alone.

The Foundation also runs Mill Hill School, Belmont, Grimsdell and — from 1 September 2025 — Heathfield School and Westbrook Hay School, following merger agreements disclosed in its FY2025 accounts. Its consolidated accounts are not broken out by school.

The funding commitment

Alex and Elena Gerko — his fortune built on the algorithmic trading firm XTX Markets — are funding the school's creation with £30 million over ten years, covering setup costs, running costs, and bursaries and scholarships, according to Mill Hill's own account of the arrangement.

The Foundation's FY2025 annual report (year ended 31 August 2025, filed at Companies House 29 May 2026) confirms the school as a strategic initiative delivered that year: "Mill Hill School and Belmont were chosen as the location of the UK's only dedicated 11–18 Maths school, which will open for pupils in September 2026." A first Head, Nick Hamshaw, was appointed from September 2025.

The school states up to £2.4 million a year is available in full and partial bursaries. Admissions are described as need-blind — a family's ability to pay is assessed only after a place is offered on ability. A small number of Ramanujan Scholarships award a 25% tuition-fee reduction to outstanding candidates.

What we could not verify: The £30m/10-year figure is the Gerko family's and Mill Hill's own stated commitment, not a figure that has appeared as a single line in any filed accounts we've read.; The Foundation's own group-wide income/expenditure were not extracted this pass — they wouldn't isolate the maths school's costs even if they were, so the payoff is limited..
